They do not contain any information that the students are supposed to be developing themselves. The criteria point to aspects of the learning outcome and not to features of any one specific task for example, criteria list characteristics of good problem solving and not features of the solution to a specific problem.
They are rubrics that are specific to the performance task with which they are used. Has variety in sentence structures. Identifies, appropriately, one's own position on the issue, drawing support from experience, and information not available from assigned sources. Fair-mindedly follows where evidence and reasons lead.

Though, I could use some resources on rubric scoring, b/c I see a lot of teachers simply adding up the number of squares and having that be the total point value of an assignment, which leads to incorrect grades on assignments.
